About Bjorn

You must be bored to read this section instead of my posts. Allow me to indulge you then.

This blog is about social media, online marketing, entrepreneurship, space travel, politics and lastly, my rantings on my life, society and other offbeat stuff, in descending order of frequency.

My Favorite Quote:

“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.” – Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States of America (1901-1909)

Background

I am a young Singaporean entrepreneur and had my first startup in 2003 – a brick-and-mortar affair which involved distribution and retail of outdoor sporting equipment. Between July 2004 and Jan 2006, i worked in Silicon Valley with a couple of technology startups under the NUS Overseas College (NOC) internship program and discovered a new passion for the internet sector. I also did some coursework at Stanford University during this period before returning to Singapore in Jan 2006.

Entrepreneur27 Singapore is a hobby started up with some friends. We run unconferences and cool events in Singapore hoping to find like-minded Web 2.0 enthusiasts, especially the geeks, to develop or share cool ideas in this space. It has grown substantially since a humble 30-person event in a small NUS cafe in Feb 2006.

I recently graduated from National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Business (Honors) degree and a minor in technology entrepreneurship with Stanford University under the aforementioned NOC program.

What I Believe In

My passion lies in evangelizing and imagining new possibilities of how consumer media will evolve on the web. I am excited about the rise of the Internet as a formidable alternative to existing mainstream media platforms such as TV, radio, print etc.. I believe we are on the cusp on a revolution and being in Asia, we have the benefit of avoiding first-mover disadvantages while the disruptions unfolds first in the more developed media sectors of America.

I also love Star Trek with its fictional but heart-pumping visions of science and believe human’s destiny lies in outer space. Hopefully, we discover the warp drive soon to discover other civilizations before they find us and reduce us to pulp. 😉 There’s an explorer instinct in me to find new cultures and civilizations so yes, one day I like to go up to space and i cant wait for space exploration to be commercialized.

“The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us.” – Bill Watterson (Creator, Calvin and Hobbes)
